Green Design.

Reducing energy in use.
Minimizing external pollution and environmental damage.
Reducing embodied energy and resource depletion.
Minimizing internal pollution and damage to health.

Accurate perforated metal, made with recycled content, can help you achieve any or all of these objectives in style and on budget. Whether you use metal to do a decorative and energy-saving building façade or canopy or incorporate interior metal into wall and ceiling panels to improve air quality, you have an incredible resource in Accurate Perforating.

Our products can help you achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits and certification. The LEED Green Building Rating System™ was first developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in 1998 to provide a set of standards in which environmentally sustainable construction could be measured. LEED identifies a building’s performance in the categories of Sustainability, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation in Design. Your LEED profile can help make you and your firm sought-after. And we can help you build it.

What is LEED?

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ was first developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in 1998 to provide a set of standards in which environmentally sustainable construction could be measured. Their goal is to give “building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance.” To do this, LEED identifies a building’s performance in the categories of Sustainability, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation in design. Each category is then broken down into Pre-Requisite and Credit segments, such as Storage and Collection of Recyclables, Water Use Reduction, Stormwater Design and Recycled Content. Each credit is assigned a potential number of points. The total amount of points a building is able to obtain through the LEEDs process earns it a Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum ranking.

Why should I try to obtain a LEED ranking for my buildling?

Green designs provide financial benefits that conventional designs do not. The increased energy efficiency of green buildings decreases heating and electric bills, reduced water and waste, lower operations and maintenance costs. Green buildings have also been shown to attribute to enhanced occupant productivity and health. Tax benefits are also available with the higher levels of LEED certification.

How do perforations help me earn LEED points?

Perforated metal sun louvers for building windows allow for building occupants to enjoy exterior views while permitting a comfortable level of natural light. By allowing architects to manage the amount of interior heat build-up from the sun, building HVAC systems use less energy and provide a more consistent interior climate. At the same time, by allowing sunlight in, it reduces the amount of artificial light needed during the day.

Further HVAC efficiencies and interior air quality (IAQ) can be obtained using perforated metal in wall and ceiling systems. Perforated panels allow HVAC airflow while reducing sound and noise pollution in large office areas. The flow of air and sound can be tuned based on the size and shape of the perforations.
