Backlit perforated panels brighten your environment. The lighting highlights surface structure and makes the material stand out, creating a more dramatic effect. Additionally, backlighting can have a minimal profile, allowing it to fit the space and deliver consistent radiance.

Highlight the Structure

Illuminating perforated components from behind creates shadows that clarify the three-dimensional layers with gradual change. Adding backlighting between perforated, punched, or laser-cut panels can create a distinctive look and make a dramatic impact.

Make Material Stand Out

Backlighting transparent, open materials makes the texture stand out spectacularly. For example, in the Materials Pavilions graphic panel we produced for NeoCon 2017 with GL LED, light shines through the perforations, creating intense contrast and making the design layout pop!

Desired Impression

As a custom manufacturer, we don't have a backlit perforated product. Instead, we take your design and utilize perforating, punching, and laser cutting to create the desired effect for your backlit metal panels, including graphics, logos, images, pictures, designs, and patterns.

Illuminating Components

Accurate Perforating has collaborated with many lighting partners over the years, including GL LED, for use in many types of lighting components to make your signage stand out, including:

  • LED strips (white, temperature-controlled, colored, and SMART LED)
  • LED or fluorescent panels
  • Diffusers (transparent and opaque covers on flush and angled channels)
  • Wall washers (white and colored)

FAQs

What is a backlit perforated metal panel?

A backlit perforated metal panel allows light to pass through it from behind. Because of the contrast from the holes and solid parts of the panel, the lighting creates unique textures and shadows. The contrast between the illuminated openings and solid metal creates texture and shadows and can be very dramatic with recognizable images that utilize the GraphicPerf process.

What is GraphicPerf?

GraphicPerf is Accurate’s process for translating a photograph, logo, illustration, or other graphic into a pattern of holes in metal. When viewed from the appropriate distance, the holes work together to create the image.

Does Accurate supply the lighting system?

Accurate manufactures the custom perforated metal panel. The customer's lighting designer, electrical contractor, fabricator, or lighting partner typically handles lighting fixtures, controls, wiring, and installation.

Can GraphicPerf panels be backlit?

Yes. Backlighting can increase the contrast of a GraphicPerf image and create a different appearance after dark or when surrounding light levels change.

Can backlit metal panels be used outdoors?

Yes, provided you select the material, finish, mounting system, lighting components, and electrical installation for exterior use. Accurate can help with the metal panel, while the appropriate project partners should specify the lighting and installation system.

What materials and finishes are available?

Options include aluminum, galvanized steel, or stainless steel. Additional finishes, such as powder coating or anodizing, might be required.

What information do you need for a quote request?

Size and gauge, material and finish preferences, quantity, installation location, mounting requirements, and any available information about the lighting concept.
